Teung, Drum Dance
This
dance name comes from the sound that supposed to imitate the sound of
drum. The dance was originally not for the performance but for processions
associated with Thai New Year festivities and the ordinations of young
monks into Buddhist monastery. The drum have a specific name called Klong
Yao, that means the long drum, when played symbolizes the advent of celebrations.
The Klong Yao procession is both colorful and exciting and the drums played
by men while females perform dances in accompaniment.
