Pas de duex between
Hanuman and Suphannamatcha

This pas de duex is a part of Khon performance in episode of the Construction of the Causeway to Longka and the Birth of Matchanu. While Rama, Laksamana and the monkey army are going to take Sita back to Ayothaya. Rama decides to build a causeway to Longka to facilitate the attack, and charges Hanuman and Nilaphat with its construction. The construction progresses, but as fast as Hanuman and his monkey troops throw the stones into the sea to build up the causeway, they are all removed by the mermaid, Suphannamatcha, acting on her father, Ravana, orders. Hanuman finds out how the stones have disappeared and catches Suphannamatcha. He courts her until she agrees to become his wife. The causeway is then completed within the time limit. Suphannamatcha subsequently gives birth to a son name Matchanu.
